Mexico City. Juana (45) is a lonely woman navigating a monotonous existence by visiting her senile mother at the nursing home, working a tedious job at the Siglo XXI newspaper, and taking daily medication to treat her severe anxiety attacks. For over a decade, she has mastered the art of burying her traumas, until one name brings back the past: Pedro Núñez, a corrupt politician. When his daughter’s wedding is announced, Juana is instructed to gather information about him.

Little Satchmo is based on Preston-Folta’s memoir of the same title, detailing how Sharon, the product of a two- decade love affair between Satchmo and Harlem dancer Lucille ‘Sweets’ Preston, had nooption but to harbor and conceal her identity for decades before making it public.
The film won the USA’s top- prize in television, The EMMY Award, for Outstanding Historical Documentary (Southeast, 2023).
The Croatian International Film Festival screening marks the second theatrical showing of the film in Croatia, but the first in the country with a live in-person
